Rythmos® Wander Management + Elopement Prevention

Wander protection that starts before the exit—and doesn't stop at the door.

Rythmos layers resident-specific intelligence, real-time location, exit protection and beyond-community coverage into one coordinated system—helping communities preserve freedom while reducing elopement risk.

Safety Without Walls™Protection that moves with the resident.

Movement isn't the problem.
Lack of awareness is.

Residents should be able to move, explore and participate in community life.

Rythmos adds awareness around that movement—helping care teams understand who is moving, where they are, what is happening around them and when additional support may be appropriate.

ApartmentCommunityExitOutdoors

Protect the resident without turning the community into a boundary.

A layered approach

One resident. Multiple layers of protection.

Wander risk is not binary. Neither should wander management be.

Rythmos can layer awareness, sensing, access control, precision location and identity confirmation based on the individual resident, the specific exit and the level of risk.

01 / Resident context

Start with the resident.

Protection begins with knowing who may need additional support.

Wander settings can be activated for an individual resident as needs change—without changing the resident's entire technology experience.

Individualized protection—not building-wide restriction.

02 / Real-time location

Know where they are.

Rythmos provides continuous location awareness throughout the community so staff can understand where a resident is—not simply whether an alarm occurred.

Location adds context to movement across apartments, hallways, dining spaces, activities, courtyards and other community areas.

Safety follows the resident—not the room.

03 / Approach + behavior

Recognize the approach.

A door opening is only one piece of the story.

Rythmos can add context around resident proximity, repeated exit approaches, loitering, door activity and movement near protected areas so teams can act on more meaningful information.

Awareness before the threshold is crossed.

04 / Door response

Let the door respond differently to different people.

Rythmos combines wander management and access control so an exit can apply resident-specific rules.

Depending on the deployment, Rythmos can alert staff when an at-risk resident approaches, detect door-open events, identify loitering, identify propped or forced doors, control compatible maglocks or electric strikes, and allow normal access for authorized residents and staff.

Protect the person without unnecessarily restricting everyone else.

05 / Precision + identity

Add greater confidence where it matters most.

Selected high-risk or high-traffic exits can add additional intelligence.

Advanced positioning can improve direction and side-of-door confidence, while optional camera intelligence can add visual identity confirmation and approach context. Use either layer—or combine them at critical exits.

More evidence. More context. A clearer response.

06 / Beyond the community

If they get outside, safety keeps going.

With Kallos™, protection does not end when the resident leaves Rythmos indoor coverage.

Kallos combines indoor Rythmos location awareness with integrated GPS/LTE positioning beyond the community—and supports two-way communication between the resident and care team.

Same resident. Same wearable. Same safety ecosystem.

Protect the exit

Every exit doesn't need the same answer.

A courtyard gate, main entrance, memory-care exit and service door may present very different risks.

Rythmos lets communities select the appropriate protection for each opening—and increase precision only where it changes the response.

Know when something changes.

Wireless door and presence sensors can add awareness to selected openings without requiring full access-control infrastructure.

  • Door open / closed
  • Presence
  • Scheduled notifications
  • Selected wander rules

Configure protection to the resident, the door and the risk—not the other way around.

Optional camera intelligence

Add identity to the exit.

At selected exits, compatible camera feeds can add another layer of intelligence by combining visual identity, approach behavior and door activity with the resident's wearable and Rythmos risk profile.

Camera intelligence supplements the wander workflow—it does not replace it.

Camera-free protection remains available. Add visual intelligence only where greater identity confidence provides value.

Camera-based capabilities should be configured according to community policy, resident consent, privacy requirements and applicable retention practices.

When safety moves outside

If the resident leaves, safety doesn't.

Kallos™ wearable — a screen-based resident wearable with indoor location, GPS/LTE and two-way voice
  • Indoor RTLSLocation awareness throughout the community
  • GPS + LTEContinued positioning beyond the property
  • 2-way voiceCommunicate directly with the resident
  • Secure locking bandOptional wear style for higher-risk residents
  • Customizable screenPersonalize information and resident experience
  • Nurse call + fallOne wearable supports multiple safety workflows

Kallos™ extends Rythmos Safety Without Walls™ beyond the property.

Inside the community, Kallos participates in Rythmos real-time location and wander workflows. Beyond the community, integrated GPS/LTE provides continued location awareness—while two-way voice helps staff communicate directly with the resident.

No second tracker. No handoff to another system.

Example Kallos screen showing demo community information: Maple Grove Senior Living, if found please call 555-555-0123.

The screen itself can become another layer of support.

Community information, visual prompts or other configured content can help personalize the wearable for each resident and use case.

Wander AI

The next exit event may begin long before the door.

Traditional wander systems focus on the threshold.

Wander AI is designed to look more broadly at changes in movement, routines and exit-related behavior that may warrant attention earlier.

Instead of asking only“Did Mary reach the exit?”

Rythmos can begin asking“Is Mary's movement changing?”

Normal rhythm

  1. Apartment
  2. Breakfast
  3. Activity
  4. Courtyard
  5. Dining
  6. Apartment

Change from baseline Pattern change

  1. Out of apartment
  2. Hallway movement
  3. East Lobby
  4. Near exit
  5. East Lobby
  6. Near exit

Nighttime movement and repeated exit approaches differ from Mary's baseline—flagged for attention, not diagnosis.

  • Routine changes
  • Unusual nighttime movement
  • Restlessness
  • Repeated exit approaches
  • Loitering
  • Changes in community participation
  • Changes from individual baseline

Optional future and contextual inputs can include resident-specific information and other Rythmos data where supported.

From detecting an event to understanding a pattern.

One coordinated response

Every layer ends in one actionable event.

Wearable data. Location. Door activity. Camera context. Resident risk.

Rythmos brings the relevant information into one caregiver workflow so teams can understand what is happening and act without piecing together multiple systems.

One event—not five disconnected alerts.

Acceptance, escalation, resident location, communication and event resolution remain part of the same Rythmos response workflow.

Example Rythmos Care Manager event: high-priority wander event for Mary S. in the East Lobby, protected resident approaching East Exit, door policy active, with Accept, Navigate, Call Resident and Request Help actions. Event accepted by Alex R., ETA one minute.

Part of Rythmos

Wander management shouldn't require another system.

The same Rythmos platform that manages wander protection can also connect resident-initiated calls for help, fall monitoring, access control, location awareness and other safety events.

That means communities can use the same infrastructure, resident identity and caregiver workflow across multiple safety needs.
